As we all know, this is a time of great change for our church and parishes around the Ireland are exploring creative and courageous ways to renew parish life. One of the big challenges is finding ways of animating the talents of the lay people we have right here in our parish communities.
The Archbishop of Dublin reminds us in his recent pastoral letter that our relationship with Christ is the foundation for our life in the Church. If we begin every new parish initiative with a focus on building this relationship, then we will have active engaged parishioners, ready to be 'missionary disciples', actively supporting the life of the parish. Without it, we only have endless plans.
Faith on Fire's mission is simple: we work hand in hand with parishes to offer opportunities - for parents, for parish teams, for the wider parish community - to build that relationship with Christ - and then, crucially, to respond to the call to be 'missionary disciples'.
Q: Our parish already has a pastoral plan which invites lay people to become actively involved: why do we need Faith on Fire? Personal encounter with Christ is the foundation of all other parish renewal initiatives: Faith on Fire helps build that relationship with Christ in your parish, helping animate 'intentional disciples' in the parish community.
Through short programmes which offer encounter with Christ, we help animate adults in your parish to become active in sharing the Gospel: in their families, in parish initiatives, in their workplaces.
